Children are not a scaled-down copy of an adult, so there are important nuances and special manipulations that parents and anyone who works with children (grandparents, caregivers, nannies, teachers, governesses, coaches, etc.) need to know when giving them first aid. This course meets modern standards of the European Resuscitation Council (ERC), American Heart Association (AHA), as well as current regulations of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and gives cadets the skills to provide first aid to children.

The course covers:

Some features of the child's body, or why a child should be treated differently than adults.

Safety issues and calling for help, rules of communication with the emergency medical station dispatcher.

Initial assessment of the casualty.

Carrying out cardiopulmonary resuscitation for children of different ages by persons without medical training.

Transposition of the victim to a stable position.

Assistance with vomiting.

Assistance with airway obstruction (airway obstruction by a foreign body) in children of various ages.

First Aid for the most frequent life-threatening conditions:

  • fever (high body temperature)
  • dehydration
  • seizures
  • respiratory disorders
  • Children's accidents (poisoning, etc.)

Recommendations are also given on how to complete a first aid kit for children during the course.

The knowledge and skills acquired are practiced on mannequins using interactive simulation techniques. Course participants are provided with teaching aids. After the course completes, a certificate is issued.
